Unlike any other design event in the world, Milan Design Week is the undisputed ‘must see’ for anyone interested in design. Milan Design Week, "MDW” incorporates Salone del Mobile at Rho showgrounds ,that first took place on 24 september 1961, and the Fuorisalone, a series of events and exhibitions spread across seven districts in Milan. Everything starts from a "bet on the future of the history of design." Initiated by the intuition of a small group of furniture makers, expression of Federlegno (today FederlegnoArredo), and organized by Cosmit to promote Italian exports of furniture and its complements. A piece of industrial history of the country that already contains all the elements of what would have been the system of wood and furniture in the following decades. The furniture fair has become "international" since 1967. In 1974 Eurocucina for the first time take place, which is followed in 1976 Euroluce. The International Furniture Fair is divided into 3 stylistic types: Classic , Design and xLux - the industry dedicated to the timeless luxury reinterpreted in a contemporary way successfully launched at the last edition. Salone del Mobile alone has over 2000 exhibitors across more than 200,000sqm of exhibition space. With 400 incredible Fuorisalone events and installations also on offer, choosing the very best things to see is critical for getting the most out of MDW. Important brands located in the design districts introduce their new collections and host special events with live music and entertainment for a totally unmissable extravaganza.
